Can you play Pickleball on a Tennis Court? Yes, it is possible. However, you will need to address three challenges: 1) The height of the net 2) Make new lines on the court 3) Sharing the court effectively.
1) Height of the Net- A Pickleball net is 6 inches lower on the sides and 2 inches lower at it’s lowest point in the middle. You could lower the tennis net, but it is inconvenient to have to adjust that each time that a tennis game is played. One option is to buy a temporary net adjuster. Or, you could purchase a temporary net
2) Making New Lines- You can either paint permanent lines on the court or place tape on the court each time you use it. If you decide to paint, then make sure not to use white or any other color that will confuse your tennis-playing colleagues. IF you wish to use tape, you will need about 200 feet of masking tape to make a Pickleball court.
3) Sharing the court effectively- This will depend greatly depending on your community. For instance, if the neighbors do not like the sound of our balls on the neighborhood court, then first of all, too bad! It is not like we are the only source of noise pollution. However, you may need to let the Tennis players occupy the courts during certain hours during the day. Also, do not make any permanent changes to the court without a strong consensus from the Tennis community.
